The Blogroll Chu-Chu-Chu-Chu-Chu-Changes
See how I did that? A little nod to David Bowie there.
Who’s David Bowie? … … … Okay, you, get out of here, Now. Go. Leave. Kids these days!
Alrighty then. I spent an entire morning cleaning up, organizing, adding, deleting, stuff to the side bar over there >>>
I mentioned in a blog post a bit ago the focus around here was going to be more on writing than on gaming and such moving forward…
“Hey DUMBASS!” you say with self-righteous smite, “Seven out of ten of your recent posts have been about gaming!“
To which I can only respond with a simple, byte me.
Hockey is not a game. Hockey is a state of being. A zen. That being said, in my defense, I’ve been playing Borderlands 2 and I haven’t been writing about it even though I really, really wanted to. So there, neener-neener and all that good stuff.
Back to the issue at hand.
The decision to focus more on writing forced me clean up the sidebar (that one, over there >>> we’ve gone over this already, geesh). I removed the RSS feeds from Major Nelson (f–k him, like he needs me advertising for him) and PreGameLobby where my XBOX Live gamer pals hang out. I’m not very active in the PGL community at present, nothing to do with them, I’ve become a little more introverted since Gina’s passing and writing is higher on my agenda than socializing right now. I still think of them all and will join in games when I see them playing the same. They are not entirely gone from the sidebar, but have been resigned to a meager link under the Gaming section of my Blogroll (over there >>> how many times do I have to tell you this?)
As always, if adult gamers out there are looking for fellow adult gamers to game with, PreGameLobby is the place to go. And for those of you in Europe, I hear tell Dads of Gaming is a pretty cool place to meet adult gamers too. For gaming, not XBOX Live sex or anything like that. Don’t try that. I tried it once. Didn’t go over too well. People just don’t have the appreciation for llamas, little-people and the strategic use of whipped cream that I do. Their loss.
This introverted phase I’m going through has also kept me from posting much on my favorite blogs out there. Rest assured I’m still following and reading you all, I’ve even reserved a day out of the month when I do nothing but catch up on my favorite blogs. It’s just one day though, the rest of my time is for writing. Selfish? Maybe. Deal with it.
As far as the Blogroll goes, if your blog has disappeared you’ve been deleted. I’ve also added a couple more to the list and will probably add a few more in the coming months. It’s how I show appreciation for those folk who, for some strange reason, keep coming back here.
I’ve noticed some frequent visits by some very talented and published/working writers lately, and while I question their tastes, the fact that they keep coming back here tickles me pink to no end–more so than llamas, little-people and the strategic use of whipped cream.
Nothing is more encouraging to a writer than another writer’s endorsement, especially when that endorsement is from people far more talented.
Thank you all for visiting.
Where you live shouldn’t determine whether you live. KONY 2012
Everyone’s values are defined by what they will tolerate when it is done to others. ~ William Greider
Joseph Kony (born c. 1961) is a Ugandan guerrilla group leader, head of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a group engaged in a violent campaign to establish theocratic government based on the Ten Commandments throughout Uganda. The LRA is a militant group with a syncretic Christian extreme religious ideology. They are known for the extreme atrocities they commit against civilians, including killings, mutilations, rape, and in some accounts even cannibalism. [1]
On October 6, 2005, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced that arrest warrants had been issued for five members of the Lord’s Resistance Army for crimes against humanity following a sealed indictment. [1]
In America you probably only heard of Joseph Kony and the LRA when conservative windbag, Rush Limbaugh, spoke out in defense of Kony on the grounds that Kony was a “Christian fighting Muslims.” This vitriol was made in response to President Obama authorizing the deployment of 100 combat-equipped U.S. troops to central Africa to help Ugandan forces hunt this evil down in October of 2011. One hundred troops? We sent far more than that to die in Iraq for Bush’s oil.
The documentary above is 30 minutes long. 30 minutes out of your life that could possibly help save thousands of children’s lives. I sit here ashamed of myself. Here I am whining about a patch for a stupid f—ing game when there are children in the world being murdered and mutilated by madmen while our feckless leadership bickers recklessly because the old white guard can’t handle a black man in the White House.
But none of that matters. This isn’t about politics. This isn’t about black and white. This isn’t about you or me or some stupid f—ing game. This isn’t even about some backwater godforsaken hell hole on some faraway continent.
This is about the very soul of our humanity.
Tonight, look in on your sleeping children. Marvel at their wonder. Bask in the joy and pride you feel in them. Melt in the warmth of your mutual, unconditional love. Then I want you to thank whatever God you pray to that they will never bare witness to the hell and insanity those children in the documentary have.
I used to think the world was flat
Rarely threw my hat into the crowd
I felt I had used up my quota of yearning
Used to look in on the children at night
In the glow of their Donald Duck light
And frighten myself with the thought of my little ones burningThe Tide is Turning, Radio K.A.O.S, Roger Waters
We must keep pressure on our government to see this through till the end. Joseph Kony must be caught and brought to justice. Together we can make it happen. Together we must make this happen. My fellow bloggers, my friends, I implore you, plaster the KONY 2012 image all over your blog, all over your neighborhood, tell your friends, your family, tell the passerby in the supermarket. Make Joseph Kony famous.
Sign the pledge to help us bring Kony to justice in 2012

I swore I would not get political on these pages but recent events have me infuriated.
THERE IS NO FREEDOM OF PRESS IN THIS COUNTRY ANYMORE. Corporations own everything.
Yesterday I did a piece for Eric Swett’s Progressively Me blog “Do You Know About Occupy Wall St.?“ Please click on the link to read it. In it I talk about the current protest that’s been going on on Wall St. for over a week now and how the mainstream media is not covering it. I don’t believe it is a matter of them not covering it. I know it’s a matter of them being told not to cover it.
I go to Huffington Post for my news, not anymore. This morning every inquiry I make on its forums as to why they are not covering the Wall Street protests is immediately deleted. I’m not cussing in these inquiries, I am simply asking a legitimate question. Why is Huff Post and the rest of the mainstream media not covering Occupy Wall St.? Fifty Tea Bagging nut jobs gather on some obscure corner of America and there is street wide press pandemonium. THOUSANDS GATHER IN LOWER MANHATTAN to decry the foul play of the big banks and Wall St. and “The Man” (what else can you call it when one unseen entity has control over all the ostensibly independent media organizations) passes down the executive order to ignore it.
I’m getting worried for the protestors, the cops are getting antsy (not enough doughnut breaks I guess.) Without the media covering this there is too much room for the police force to act in unscrupulous ways. Unless you’re a millionaire in this world you count for nothing. Your vote means nothing. It seems the police, the military, the government and the media are here to protect the wealthy and the wealthy are laughing at you America.
They say a corporation is a person, let one take an empathy test and prove it.
