FIFA 12 Slider Difficulties
Posted by Aj b33m3R
I’m having the same problem with FIFA 12 that I had with FIFA 7.
I started playing FIFA 12 on Amateur. Starting off slow and easy is the best way to learn the controls. But in order to experience the true dynamics of the game you have to increase the difficulty. And so I went up a level to Semi-Pro fairly quick. It’s a bit more challenging and the AI is more aggressive but I was still winning every game almost effortlessly. Notched it up to Professional and the AI bitch slaps me each and every time. I play Liverpool or Manchester United versus some crappy American team and the yanks storm all over me like Easy Company on the beaches of Normandy. I want a challenge but I don’t want to get trounced on in every game. There are other games I would like to play so playing a single game 24/7 to master it is not an option. So what’s an average gamer like me to do?
Adjust the difficulty sliders. At first, to someone like me, this might be considered cheating but there is such a huge difference between Semi-Pro and Pro in difficulty that this is necessary for a truly unexceptional gamer such as myself (sorry Woody, you lost that title when you quit your day job and went pro!) One has to also consider the fact that EA Sports did put the difficulty sliders in the game for us to use. Moreover, there are certain aspects of the gameplay on higher settings that give the game too much of an arcade feel.
At the outset I decided my philosophy in tackling this would be to adjust the sliders as little as possible while keeping the game challenging and the simulation real without it embarrassing me every chance it got and thus turning me off of the game. After consulting some other people’s slider settings I attempted my own. I have the game set to professional, 10 minute halfs and slow game speed.
The first attribute I adjusted was CPU Pass Error. The AI’s passes were far too mechanical and spot on, specially in the box, so I set it to 60. I also adjusted my Power Bar down to 45, it was too fast at 50 for my tastes and style of play. I then played half a game with Liverpool vs. Man United. Game was still very difficult but the weren’t trouncing me in the first two minutes.
But the players were too fast, breakaways were happening every second it seemed. I adjusted the Sprint Speed and Acceleration next for both the CPU and myself. Sprint I made 40/39 respectively and Acceleration I made 49/48. I gave myself a slight nudge up over the CPU because the CPU already has the edge in faster reflexes and foresight. I also made the CPU’s Pass Error 70 as they were still a little too accurate. I contemplated raising mine to 55 but I already make my fair share of mistakes when passing (I have manual passing on.) I set the Injury Frequency to 70/70 and the Severity to 55/55. I did this mostly because it was what other people had done for the sake of realism. I then played a full game with Liverpool vs. Man United. United won 1-0. The game was fun and challenging and played at a pace that was acceptable to me. Now we’re getting somewhere.
Then I adjusted Position Marking to 60/55 and Position Run Frequency to 75/65. Again, I did this because it was what a lot of other people had done supposedly for the sake of realism. I then played half a match with Liverpool vs. Columbus Crew. I was able to score but it wasn’t too easy to do so. I only scored once but my focus was more on defending against their attacks to see if I had made the settings too easy. I was able to hold them back while they still managed to get in the box and get a few good shots off. I decided to adjust Pass Error down to 65 for the CPU and test some more.
So here they are;
